Property profile:
Factory-mixed,
surface waterproofing agent - "flexible waterproofing grout" - in
compliance with ibh
Guide Lines (Industrial Association for Construction Chemicals and Wood Preservatives e.V., Karlstr. 21, 6000
Frankfurt am Main). Self and independent supervision in
compliance with ibh Guide Lines.
The product conforms with the Code of Practice
"Notes on the execution of waterproofing bonded to surfacing and tile
coverings in interior areas", as
per Feb. 1988, published by the German Tile Industry Trade Association - a member of the Central German Construction Industry Association e.V (ZDB), Bonn, Group 2.1.1 - Plastic, cement mortar
combinations.
High
chemical resistance up to a degree of "strong attack" in compliance
with DIN 4030 and resistant to liquid manure according to
DIN 11622-2, section 4 (Examination Report Nr. 2810 and 2815 a/93) as well
as an independent test at the Chamber of Agriculture's Futterkamp
Experiment Farm in Schleswig-Holstein.
AVIRON Elastogrout is a
flexible, cementitious waterproofing grout with a
high plastic content. Because of its flexibility, small movements of the
substrate (but not settlement movements) are taken up and shrinkage cracks are
bridged. AVIRON Elastogrout does not dry out when
properly applied and is also suitable for use as a silicification
grout in the AVIRON Kiesol System (deep protection,
fast setting).
Range of use:
1)
New construction
waterproofing of buildings (cellars and building elements) against ground
moisture and damp from the outside as well as rising damp in cellar wall
bearing areas. Here, it fulfils the requirements of DIN 1053 for shear strength
and analogously of DIN 18 195, part 4 and part 5 for horizontal waterproofing.
It
is also used for waterproofing against pressure water from the inside in
solidly constructed water reservoirs (service water, liquid manure tanks) with
a water depth < 5 m. It can be used for
pressure water waterproofing on concrete construction (at least B 25) in the AVIRON
Kiesol System. In new construction waterproofing, the
AVIRON Elastogrout coating is applied to the water
side.
The
substrate must be sound, generally even, free of gravel pockets, wide open
cracks or seams and clean (no parting agent residue). Normal substrates are
concrete, masonry work and
render P II and P III.
2) Waterproofing in wet rooms in compliance with the
Code of Practice
for tile layers, for vertical surfaces (at least
3)
Special applications:
a)
Lightly flexible, cementitious coatings in stables,
liquid manure tanks and sewers.
b)
Flexible filler for garages and warehouses (light loads).
c)
Reinforcement of construction joints and sealing coves by bedding Solutan Reinforcement Fabric (Art. No.
4553) or for cementing Sulfiton Water Stop (according
to the directions in the Technical Information Sheet for Art. No. 4813).
d)
Surface protection and carbonation inhibitor for concrete surfaces in facade
and splash water areas as a precautionary measure or final protective coating.
e)
Frictionally-coupled horizontal barrier for even building blocks (sand-lime brick,
aerated concrete, etc.).
Working Instructions:
A package of AVIRON Elastogrout
(bags/canister) consists of the powder part P and the liquid additive Z.
Both parts are mixed with a hand mixer, e.g. Beba BO 50, so that a grouting consistency
is achieved. The liquid part of the ready-to-use grout is approx. 30%. Since
the mixture thickens somewhat afterward, rinse the canister that held the
liquid additive out after a few minutes and add this to the grout, mixing well.
The material should be stirred often during work and tools cleaned in between.
For a thinner consistency, e.g. for spray applications but also for grouting,
an addition of water - up to 10% of the liquid
additive (approx.
The
substrate to be coated should be damp or silicified
with AVIRON Kiesol. Concrete surfaces, especially
horizontal surfaces, should be primed with AVIRON Kiesol
thinned 1:1 with water. This primer must
be well absorbed by the substrate and the surface air-dry. Pre-wet dry,
porous wall surfaces, prime with AVIRON Kiesol and
allow to absorb. After the primer has been absorbed,
two coatings of AVIRON Elastogrout are required for
ground moisture and damp and three coatings for water pressure, taking the
total application rates given below into consideration. Before applying a fresh
layer, the previous layer must have set (touch-dry).
When using in silicification treatments with AVIRON Kiesol, the time between applications is 15 to 30 minutes,
otherwise 3 to 6 hours.
In general, the individual layers should not be
applied too thick, otherwise cracks may appear.
Layer thickness per working operation is approx.
Finish by spraying exterior cellar walls with AVIRON Kiesol.
Resistance to rain is achieved after 3 to 4 hours without silicification
and after approx. 1/2 to 1 hour with silicification.
To achieve the full waterproofing effect, the waterproofing grout must have set
and dried thoroughly. At normal temperatures and weather conditions, this
usually takes 2 to 3 days for vertical, exterior waterproofing. Since drying
conditions are not as favourable in reservoir areas, waiting time is at least
twice as long. If a subsequent final coating is not to be applied in these
areas, always finish with AVIRON Kiesol.
