RC AMONIT

MINERAL NATURAL STONE RESTORATION MORTAR

Description

AMONIT is a 100% mineral mortar composed of grounded and/or broken natural stone (AMONIT-powder) and a mineral binding agent (AMONIT-liquid).

Advantages :

perfect colour and texture imitation of the treated natural stone

shrink-proof hardening (unlike hydraulic systems)

frost-resistant

material hydrology similar to the original material

UV-resistant, colour-proof, ages like the original material

easy-to-use, even in thick layers

high tension-free adhesion

Directions of use

Restoration of all natural stone (except marble, granite).  Most common varieties of stone in stock; patina and colour changes can be done on the spot as well as in the factory.  Thanks to the products important high-binding quality, very detailled restorations can easily be executed.  Fully hardened AMONIT restorations can be treated in the same way as the original stone.

Surfaces

Remove all loose particles – the adhesive surfaces need to be hard, clean and dry.  Clear out the affected area up to a depth of + 1 cm.  In case of vast reconstruction, mechanical anchoring (stainless spikes or bolts), need to be installed and (if necessary) connected by stainless wire.

Application

Water down the surface with AMONIT-liquid

Mixing the mortar

Mix AMONIT-powder with AMONIT-liquid until a semi-liquid mass is obtained (2.5 parts powder to 1 part liquid).  Because the product is quick-setting, it is advisable to prepare small quantities only.

Applying the AMONIT-mortar

Press the AMONIT-mortar firmly into the crack with a trowel and fill up till the mortar protrudes + 1 mm out of the stone surface

The reconstructed part is sufficiently hardened after approximately 10 minutes and can then be roughly shaped with a trowel.  Because the product’s setting time is 10 minutes at the most, it is only possible to mix a small amount of the product, which is to be applied within a short period of time.

Finishing touch

After several hours, the reconstructed area is sufficiently hardened to be worked on with sculptural tools and can even be chiselled or planed like natural stone.

NB : Quick hardening !  Nevertheless, the applied mortar shows moist for a considerable period of time.  That is the reason why the colour looks darker than the original surrounding material.  Perfect colour resemblance takes place after full hardening and chiselling or planing.

Consumption

1 cm layer on 1m² : 20 kg

Warning

AMONIT can not be used for concrete restoration

Product can only be applied when ambient temperature is between 10 and 30° C

Minimum layer : 5 mm

CAUTION : ONCE HARDENING IS INITIATED, ADD NO MORE LIQUID

Avoid contact with iron objects.

Colour adjustments can be obtained by adding AMONIT-pigments to the powder component
